Fees and Rebates

I believe in making psychological support accessible for everyone in need.  The Australian Psychological Society recommends Psychologists fees to be $254.00.  In keeping with my belief, I have kept treatment costs well below the recommended standard.  The fee for a Standard 50-minute Consultation is $180.00, with most clients being entitled to a rebate through Medicare.  After hours consultations (after 6:00 pm and weekends) will incur an additional fee of $10.00.

As a private practice, Mindful Perspectives Psychology welcomes self-referring clients as well as those referred by their treating GPs or Psychiatrists (preferably via Medical Objects).  We also accept DVA, WorkCover, and EAP referrals.
Your rebate may vary according to the following:

  • If you are a Medicare Card holder and can present a current Mental Health Care Plan, you may be eligible to a rebate of $87.45.
  • If you have Private Health Cover, you may be eligible to part or a full rebate (please check your coverage with your Private Health Fund).
  • If you do not hold a Medicare Card, the standard consultation fee applies without the option of a rebate.

Other Services

  • Support Letter: $120.00 + GST

Cancellation Policy

As part of our service to our clients, we ensure SMS reminders are sent through with 24 to 48 hours notice to allow you adequate time in which to confirm your appointment.  If for any reason you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we would appreciate your courtesy in giving us at least 24 hours advanced notice to allow us to fill that spot.

  • Late cancellations will attract a fee of $50.00 payable to the practice prior to booking future appointments.
  • Non-attendance will attract a fee equal to the standard fee payable for your session.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Late cancellation and Non-attendance fees are not covered by Medicare rebates.

In the event that you are suffering from cold/flu symptoms on the day of your appointment or you are awaiting COVID testing results, we kindly ask that you contact us as soon as possible to reschedule your appointment.  An alternative option of continuing with your consultation via TeleHealth may be offered for your convenience.  In the event of illness, we may consider waiving late cancellation fees.

Impact of COVID-19 on Psychological Services

The COVID-19 pandemic is having a significant effect on the mental health of many Australians, especially those with pre-existing mental health conditions. It has led to increased psychological distress and a greater demand for services.  The expansion of the Better Access Pandemic Support measure in late 2020 ensures Australians whose mental health is impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic can access an additional 10 Medicare subsidised psychological therapy sessions, provided a Mental Health Care Plan is in place.  This means eligible clients may access up to 20 Medicare rebates per calendar year as opposed to 10 in previous years.

At Mindful Perspectives Psychology, we are keeping abreast of all the changes concerning the provision of mental health services to the Australian public.  At present, we are able to continue supporting our clients, offering both in-person consultations as well as TeleHealth sessions to suit the needs and requirements of our community.  In some cases, a mix of both can be considered to ensure minimal disruption, particularly if changes need to be implemented to reduce the risk of infection.

We ask that our clients, new and existing, remain mindful of their own safety and that of others, by monitoring their health and advise us of any ill-health symptoms, even if these are subtle, in order for us to reschedule .  Like you, we are following current advice and guidelines set by the Queensland Department of Health in order to ensure the safety of our team and that of our clients.

I understand that given the current situation, some clients may not always be in a position where they can afford the services or support they require.  If you find yourself experiencing financial hardship, I am able to offer a limited number of clients a reduction in consultation fees in order to ease their concerns and for them to have the opportunity to access much needed mental health support.  Services under this arrangement may be charged at $150.00 (Medicare rebate of $87.45 may still apply if eligible).  Please enquire with our helpful admin staff for more information.

As a private practice, we will continue to monitor updates as provided by our Australian Government and will advise as soon as operationally possible, if there have been any proposed changes to our fees/billing and/or operational processes.

We appreciate your understanding.
